Frequently Asked Questions

The questions members ask most about our job pathways and our mentor program, plus how plans and credits work. If your answer is not here, the contact page reaches a real person.

Job Pathways

What is a job pathway?

A pathway is the route into one role that is in demand right now. Each one explains what the job actually involves, why employers are hiring for it, what it pays, and the ordered steps that take you from where you are today to hired in that field. You work through the steps in the app, and your progress is saved so you can pick the pathway back up whenever you have time.

Which fields and roles does LegacyLink cover?

Roles are listed across Construction, Skilled Trades, Healthcare, Technology, Logistics, Transportation, Manufacturing, Green Energy, Finance, Marketing, Education, and Hospitality. They are chosen because employers in those fields are actively short on workers, so the demand behind each pathway is real rather than aspirational.

Do I need a degree or experience to start a pathway?

Not always. Some pathways require a certification or a license, and some ask for no formal credential beyond being able to do the work. Every pathway lists its own requirements along with the steps for getting anything you are missing, such as training, a certificate, or a portfolio.

Do I apply for the job inside LegacyLink?

The Apply Now button on a pathway opens live postings for that role and location on Indeed, so you apply to the employer directly. LegacyLink's job is everything leading up to that: showing you which roles are worth going after in your area, what each one really takes, and how to put together an application that competes.

How is this different from a job board?

A job board hands you a list of openings. LegacyLink gives you the route: which roles are hiring near you, the steps to qualify for one, a mentor who has already done something similar, and a résumé written for that specific role. You are not left to guess why an application did not come back.

Can I get alerts when new jobs open?

Yes. On the Jobs page you can add your email and choose your state, and new roles in that state come to your inbox so you are not checking the app every day.

Mentor Program

Who are the mentors?

Black entrepreneurs and business owners who run their own companies. Each profile shows their industry, where they are based, how long they have been in business, what they specialize in, and reviews from members who have met with them.

What is the difference between coaching and shadowing?

Coaching is booked one-on-one time to work through your questions, whether that is pricing, hiring, funding, a career change, or a decision you are stuck on. Shadowing is watching a mentor work. You see how a real business day, decision, or task actually gets handled instead of hearing about it secondhand.

How do I book time with a mentor?

Open the mentor's profile, choose coaching or shadowing, and book a time that works through their calendar. You get a confirmation with the session details, and the mentor receives the same so nothing gets lost between you.

Can I find mentors near me?

Yes. LegacyLink starts with your state, so entrepreneurs in your area come up first. From there you can switch to any state, browse nationwide, filter by industry and rating, or search by name and specialty.

What does a session cost?

Sessions are booked through each mentor's own calendar. Any pricing for coaching or shadowing is set by that mentor and shown on their scheduling page before you confirm, so you always know before you commit.

Can I leave a review after a session?

Yes. On a mentor's profile, choose Write a review, select whether you coached or shadowed, give a star rating, and add whatever would help the next member decide.

I run a business. How do I become a mentor?

Mentors are added by our team rather than through a self-serve form, so the directory stays useful instead of crowded. Use the contact page to introduce yourself and your business and we will follow up.

Plans and Tools

Is LegacyLink free?

Creating an account is free. The job pathways and the mentor directory are part of the Legacy plan at $9.99 a month, and Pro is $24.99 a month. Both start with a 3-day free trial, and you can cancel anytime.

What are credits?

Credits power the AI tools: building a résumé aimed at a specific role, and generating a phased roadmap for your business. New accounts start with 30 free credits, Pro members get unlimited credits, and your balance is always visible in the app.

Can I cancel my plan?

Yes, you can cancel from your plan page at any time. There is no long-term commitment and no cancellation fee.

Are my résumé and business roadmap saved?

Both are saved to your account, so you can come back months later, update them as things change, and download a fresh copy.

What tools are included?

A résumé builder that tunes your experience to the job you want, a business roadmap that lays out funding, market, and launch work in phases, a resource library of guides and templates, job alerts, the mentor directory with coaching and shadowing, and the Legacy Guide you can ask questions inside the app.
